Opening Statement
Bloor had increased offices and contacting a colleague was confusing and expensive.
They simply wanted to encourage the business to communicate and bring a network
of ageing disparate systems into one solution.
This case study describes how desk to desk dialling using a simple extension number
is the plan of Bloor Homes to accomplish a complete nationwide networked solution
in the future.
Customer Background
Bloor build great homes and properties for customers all over the UK always seeking to
retain and manage the important elements of existing habitats in our new developments.
Working closely with local planning departments, Bloor has enhanced the surroundings
by replacement and new planting where possible, creating attractive and imaginative
developments that complement the wide range of properties, from stylish apartments to
7 bedroomed houses that appeal to the 2000 purchasers they deal with every year. This
means keeping in contact not only through the many departments of Bloor but with its
clients, contractors, suppliers and local councils all the more important.
The Business Challenge
It was Important to Bloor Homes that communications was quick and affective and with
minimal costs. This was the main driver when looking for a solution that effectively
encompassed all the offices and remote sites of Bloor homes as one. Bloor needed the
ability to centrally manage this solution with flexibility and ease. Communications for the
entire group needed features such as recording of calls, dialling from contacts on
databases and better voicemail facilities for customers and staff.
Why Maximum
Maximum suggested we take a look at Mitel’s demonstration facilities in Northampton
and see firsthand what the system can do. We were bowled over on the functionality and
ease this would bring to us. Once we had witnessed the power it was quite exciting times
looking forward with Maximum and a single solution. Maximum gave us the confidence
they could deliver with case studies of existing customers and meetings with various staff
from after sales to Engineering and planning. It was like we knew how good the end
result would be before we said yes.
The Solution
Replacing multiple systems from different manufacturers with the Mitel 5000 as the
preferred choice at each site was a leap in technology in its own right. Using these
systems with built in networking ability would be a key factor to the cost of this solution.
This eliminates expensive links and inter-site traffic by seamlessly transporting Voice
over Data. Malcolm Bradley Network Administrator added “With people moving and
constant changes, the windows explorer based programming tool gave us the ability to
make changes ourselves centrally.”
Results
Bloor homes now have a communications platform that has brought the business into a
new era. Malcolm concluded “With 5 of the 9 offices now converted to Mitel 5000
systems and plans to change the remaining four, we can then complete the full IP
solution and call every desk via an extension number”. The ability to add to the solution
anywhere in the UK, together with flexibility and reliability Bloor now enjoys, gives both
