Opening Statement
With the sheer scale of the communications requirements of the business the challenge
was to find a solution to advance our call centre technology but minimise costs and
protect the existing investment.
This case study describes how existing investment and new requirements work in
harmony at Yuasa.
Customer Background
Yuasa are world leaders in battery design and manufacture and have distributors all over
the world. In addition to the valve regulated lead-acid batteries for industrial application,
Yuasa also supply automotive batteries for aftermarket sales. Since the early part of the
20th Century Yuasa has been at the forefront of lead-acid battery technology and the
constant search by Yuasa to provide even more reliable power from smaller batteries,
has resulted in the company's current position and proud claim to be No.1 in Europe!
The Business Challenge
Yuasa’s current platform was reliable and had grown extensively covering many aspects
of the business such as warehousing with mobile telephony through to basic office
requirement at the desktop. The call centre however was costly to advance under the
existing pricing structure and was dated technology. How do you justify a complete
change for one department however important that is?

having to rip and replace, but instead giving the deserved customer service to its
customers at affordable costs. With the migration program any staff member can
upgrade their communications now to features such as home working, mobile twinning
